Daming Tempel befindet sich im Norden der Stadt Yangzhou, nahe dem Schmalen Westsee.
Er wurde in der Daming-Zeit (457 n.Chr. bis 464 n. Chr.) in der Südlichen Dynastie erbaut. Sein Name war mehrmals umgenannt. In der Qing-Dynasite hieß er Qiling-Tempel und hat seit 1980 wieder den originalen Namen Daming-Tempel.
Der berühmte Mönch des Tempels Jianzhen hat in der Tang-Dynastie versucht, ostwärts nach Japan zu reisen. Doch seine Reise scheiterte fünf Male an Unwettern auf der See. Im Jahr 753 war es ihm endlich gelungen, Japan zu erreichen. Er verbreitete chinesische Kultur, Medizin, Architektur und Technologien in Japan. 1973 wurde das Mausoleum für Jianzhen im Tempel errichtet.
