Beim Kitesurfen steht der Sportler auf einem Board, das Ähnlichkeit mit einem kleinen Surfbrett oder Wakeboard aufweist. Er wird dabei von einem Lenkdrachen (engl. „kite“) gezogen. Wellen und der Zug des Drachen können dabei für Sprünge als Unterstützung genutzt werden.
