被称为 “人造太阳” 的核聚变装置 —— 中国环流器二号 M 装置（HL-2M）在成都启动并实现首次放电，这标志着中国自主掌握了大型先进托卡马克装置的设计、建造和运行技术，核电研究能力再次取得重大进步。 HL-2M 托卡马克反应堆是目前中国最大、最先进的磁约束核聚变实验研究装置，该项目于 2009 年由国家原子能机构批复立项，由中国核工业集团西南物理研究院（SWIP）自主设计建造，科学家们希望该设备释放强大的清洁能源，它使用强大的磁场来约束等离子体发生核聚变反应，最高核心温度可以达到 1.5 亿摄氏度，约是太阳核心温度的十倍。
