Supercomputer Tianhe-1A

China scheint auch die technische Welt der Superlative erobert zu haben. So ist der chinesische Supercomputer Tianhe-1A die kommende Nummer 1 im Supercomputing. Er ist nur halb so groß, aber 50 Prozent schneller als der bislang schnellste Rechner. Sein integriertes GPU-Konzept soll laut NVIDIA die enorme Rechenpower möglich machen.
Vergleicht man den die Rechenpower des Tianhe-1A mit der aktuellen Top500 ist er aktuell der schnellste Supercomputer der Welt; vorgestellt wurde er nun auf der Fachmesse HPC (High Performance Computing) 2010 in Peking. Mit dem LINPACK-Benchmark erzielte er eine Leistung von 2,507 Petaflops.
