Der Nordatlantikstrom ist eine warme Meeresströmung, die den Golfstrom nordöstlich bis nach Europa verlängert. Er wird durch die thermohaline Zirkulation angetrieben, die hier Atlantische Umwälzzirkulation genannt wird. Durch seinen Wärmetransport wirkt der Nordatlantikstrom wie eine große Heizung, dank derer große Teile West- und Nordeuropas, wie Irland, Großbritannien und Skandinavien, ein wärmeres Klima aufweisen, als aufgrund ihrer hohen geographischen Breite zu erwarten wäre.

华北地区，简称华北，是中国地理区划之一，北至中蒙边境，南靠秦岭淮河，东临渤海和黄海，西邻青藏高原，包括北京、天津、河北、山西和内蒙古自治区，是中国政治、经济、文化中心和主要粮食生产基地。 华北地区共有城市81个，有1个中国超大型城市群——京津唐城市群；近似于城市群的城镇密集区2个：以山西太原为中心的城镇密集区和呼包鄂金三角地区。

Als Norddeutsches Tiefland, weniger treffend auch Norddeutsche Tiefebene, bezeichnet man einen der Landschaftsgroßräume in Deutschland, der im Norden von den Küsten der Nord- und Ostsee und im Süden von der mitteleuropäischen Mittelgebirgsschwelle begrenzt wird und Teil des Mitteleuropäischen Tieflands ist. Das Norddeutsche Tiefland stellt, neben Mittelgebirgen, Alpenvorland und Alpen, naturräumlich eine Großregion 1. Ordnung dar.

Der Kreis Nordfriesland (dänisch Nordfrisland, nordfriesisch Nordfraschlönj/ Nordfriislon/ Nuurdfriisklun/Nuurðfriislön, niederdeutsch Noordfreesland) ist der nördlichste Landkreis Deutschlands. Zugleich ist Nordfriesland historisch namensstiftend die Heimat der Minderheit der Nordfriesen. Im Kreisgebiet lebt traditionell ebenso die Minderheit der dänischen Südschleswiger.
