King Cotton March
King Cotton is a military march composed in 1895[1] by John Philip Sousa, for the Cotton States and International Exposition (1895). The expression "King Cotton" in general refers to the historically high importance of cotton as a cash crop in the southern United States.
History
Schlacht von Mingtiao/Battle of Mingtiao
鸣条之战，是夏朝末年（约公元前1600年）在商灭夏的战争中，商汤率领商部落士兵与夏军在鸣条（山西夏县之西）进行的一场决战。 在约公元前16世纪，夏王桀的统治出现了危机。夏朝在东方的属国商，乘机先征服邻近的夏属葛国（今宁陵县北），保障商都南亳（今河南省商丘市东南）的安全。又派重臣伊尹至夏王都城探测虚实。再采取分别翦除夏朝羽翼的策略，各个击破了位于夏、商之间的豕韦（今滑县东南）、顾国（今范县东南）、昆吾（今许昌）等夏朝属国，使夏王桀孤立无援。接着，商汤又率战车70乘、敢死士兵6000人攻夏王都。夏桀只好仓促率王师与商军战于鸣条，结果夏朝军队大败。 这场战争成为夏王朝灭亡的转折点。战争的结果导致夏王朝灭亡，商汤建立了中国的第二个王朝商朝。
