Chaozhou
Chaozhou (chin. 潮州市, Cháozhōu shì „Gezeiten-Präfektur“; regional auch: Tiuchiu, Teochiu) ist eine bezirksfreie Stadt im östlichsten Teil der Provinz Guangdong, Volksrepublik China.
Die Stadt liegt in hügeliger Landschaft am Delta des Flusses Han Jiang, 40 km nördlich von Shantou. Ihr Verwaltungsgebiet hat eine Fläche von 3.078 km² und ca. 2.48 Millionen Einwohner (Ende 2003). Die regionale Sprache ist Min Nan. Es gibt viele Monumente aus der Song-Dynastie und Ruinen einer Kirche.
Überregional bekannt sind regionale Küche (die Chaozhou-Küche innerhalb der kantonesischen) und Teekultur (Gongfu-Tee).
