Li-Kanal
里运河是京杭大运河介于长江和淮河之间的河段，流经江苏省淮安市和扬州市，北接中运河，南接江南运河。 明清时期里运河自清江浦至瓜洲古渡入长江，中华人民共和国成立后改在施桥镇六圩入长江，长168公里。这是大运河最早修凿的河段。有些河段水面高出地面四至五米。 明、清两代，朝廷在京杭大运河的枢纽部位，里运河、中运河与黄河故道（即古淮河）交汇处——淮安府城中心专门设立漕运总督和下属庞大的机构，负责漕运事宜。在城西北30里外南船北马的水陆要冲清江浦设有南河总督，负责江苏、安徽两省河道。来自徽州和山西富甲天下的两淮盐商，则聚居在扬州新城以及淮安河下，竞相建造精巧雅致的私家园林。
Suezkanal
苏伊士运河（阿拉伯语：قناة السويس，罗马化：Qanā al-Suways）处于埃及西奈半岛西侧，横跨在亚洲、非洲交界处的苏伊士地峡，头尾则在地中海侧的塞德港和红海苏伊士湾侧的苏伊士两座城市之间，全长约163公里，是全球少数具备大型商船通行能力的无船闸运河。 这条运河连结了欧洲与亚洲之间的南北双向水运，船只不必绕过非洲南端的好望角，大大节省航程。以从英国伦敦港或法国马赛港到印度孟买港的航行为例，穿过苏伊士运河比绕道好望角可缩短至少43%的航程距离(约7000公里)。在苏伊士运河开通之前，有时人们从船上卸下货物，透过陆运在地中海和红海之间运输。
Canal Grande
Der Canal Grande, im Venezianischen Canałazzo, ist eine knapp vier Kilometer lange, zwischen 30 und 70 Meter breite und bis zu fünf Meter tiefe Hauptwasserstraße in der Lagunenstadt Venedig. Die erste Biegung des S-förmigen Kanals wird als Volta di Canal bezeichnet.
