»Heldenstadt« darf sich die Hauptstadt der Provinz Jiangxi (2,5 Mio. Ew.) nennen, seit hier am 1. August 1927 ein bewaffneter Aufstand unter der Leitung der chinesischen KP stattfand - die Geburtsstunde der Roten Armee und bis heute nationaler Feiertag. Nanchang ist vor allem als Ausgangspunkt für Touren ins Umland interessant.
