„Aj lučka, lučka široká“ (Englisch: ‚Oh das weite, weite Feld‘) ist ein tschechisches Volkslied. Das slowakische Pendant „Horela lipka, horela“ (dt. „Die Linde brannte, sie brannte“) hat die gleiche Melodie. Das Lied wurde von tschechischen Einwanderern in die Vereinigten Staaten gebracht, wo der japanische Pastor und Kirchenmusiker Nakata Ugo es entdeckte und einen japanischen Text schrieb.

Nowell ist eine englische Schreibweise von noël, dem französischen Wort für Weihnachten. In seiner jetzigen Form ist es cornischen Ursprungs.
